The Great Gatsby was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald between 1923 and 1924 in America and France. The book was first published
by Charles Scribner’s Sons in 1925. This novel is about a young man named Jay Gatsby. Gatsby fell in love with
a young woman named Daisy. Jay went off to fight in World War 1 and she promised him she would wait. While Jay was at war
a man name Tom Buchanan asked Daisy to marry him. She did. Once Gatsby got back from the war he moved to West Egg in
New York. Daisy Buchanan lived in East Egg just across the bay. Nick Carraway moved right beside Gatsby in West Egg.
They started talking one day and Gatsby found out that Nick was Daisy's cousin, so they arranged a day to meet again. That
day came and went and Daisy started having an affair with Gatsby. Daisy, Gatsby, Nick, Tom and Jordan Baker all got together
one day and drove into the city. They rented a hotel room and relaxed until Tom brought up Daisy and Gatsby's affair. Gatsby
and Daisy left because they were mad at Tom. On the way back to West Egg Daisy hit a lady but kept driving. The lady
she hit was the woman that Tom was having an affair with. She got away with it. Then one day Gatsby went swimming in his pool
and George Wilson (the lady that got hit was his wife) thought it was him that hit his wife so he shot Gatsby then himself.
Nick arranges a small funeral for Gatsby and ends his relationship with Jordan. He then moves back to the Midwest to escape
the disgust he feels for the people surrounding Gatsby’s life.
